Five new restaurants and bars confirmed for Oxford's Westgate centre 'rooftop garden'
Five new restaurants and bars have been confirmed for Oxford’s Westgate centre's rooftop terrace.
Popular names are already confirmed to take place in the centre's rooftop garden: Cocktail bar The Alchemist, Indian restaurant Cinnamon Kitchen, cafe chain The Breakfast Club, Pizza Pilgrims and Venetian restaurant Polpo. Other restaurants set to join the development are Japanese restaurants Sticks n Sushi and Shoryu Ramen, Lebanese restaurant Comptoir Libanais, and French cafe Le Pain Quotidien.
The new rooftop garden area will offer visitors panoramic views of the city and will feature a grass 'quad' with a canopy area for live performances and cinema screenings.
Leisure property agents confirmed advanced negotiations were ongoing to secure the remaining three units on the terrace.
Tracey Mills, an executive director at the firm, said:
"Demand has been fantastic for the twelve rooftop restaurants, which will offer diners a panoramic view of the city centre and beyond."
The centre's John Lewis store will open a rooftop terrace of its own and the development will house more than 100 retailers and 25 restaurants in addition to the roof terrace. Retailers confirmed for the centre include Hugo Boss, Calvin Klein, Tommy Hilfiger and H&M. Charles Tyrwhitt, Michael Kors and Victoria's Secret Pink will also be part of the complex as will Oxford's own academic book shop Blackwell's.
The £440m development is set to open in October next year.
