Haringey announces shortlist for £2 billion regeneration programme
A shortlist of three bidders for the £2bn Haringey Development Vehicle (HDV) was announced last week, which from next year will lead one of the UK’s largest regeneration programmes.
The HDV will be a 50/50 long-term partnership which will transform the borough over the next 15-20 years by creating at least 5,000 new homes, a new town centre in Wood Green and thousands more jobs for the area.
The first phase will focus on regeneration in Wood Green and Tottenham. The Tottenham area is already set to be boosted by Premier League club Tottenham Hotspurs’ plans for a new £400m stadium.
The HDV’s programme will also be supported by major improvements to transport links which could include at least four Crossrail 2 stations and the billions in other public and private investment which the borough is already attracting.
Leader of Haringey Council, Claire Kober said: “This is an important step towards helping us deliver one of the largest regeneration programmes in the UK.”
