Shortlisting starts for £150m Barking rail extension
Rail for London is preparing to shortlist firms to build a new London Overground line to the planned 11,000 home Barking Riverside development.
The project includes constructing an elevated extension from an existing railway line and a new station at Barking Riverside. This involves modification of the existing railway lines from Barking station over a stretch of 3km with a new 1.5km railway extension from Renwick Road overbridge into the heart of the new residential development at Barking Riverside.
A completed and approved design for the works will be provided by RfL to firms invited to tender. Work is expected to start in February 2018 for completion by August 2020.
